Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Kefalonia (-/-/-)
- Upon your arrival, one of our representatives will be waiting for you to welcome you, transfer you to the hotel and explain the island a little more.
- Kefalonia is referred to by Homer as Same or Samos, a name that derives from Cephalus who became master of the island helped by Host. However, Herodotus is the first to call the island Kefalonia. Kefalonia also preserves the ruins of a Roman city in Cape Escala, to the southeast, probably built in the 1st century and called Cephalenia.
- Nowadays it has the Castle of Saint George next to the Livadho plain. To the north you can find remains of a fortress called Asso, which may be the ancient Nesus.
- The rest of the day will be free to relax and discover Kefalonia at your own pace. One of the most famous islands of the Ionian archipelago with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Day 2 Kefalonia: Relaxation, Beaches & Nature that Surprises (B/-/-)
- Day at leisure to enjoy this magnificent island, also known as "Cefalonia". Far from the concept of arid landscape that prevails on other islands, here the green, the cliffs and the long beaches of golden sand prevail. Among its main attractions are the charming town of Fiskardo, Myrtos beach as well as the mysterious cave of Melissani. The proximity of Kefalonia to the world-famous island of Ithaka, mentioned by Homer in his heroic poem Odyssey, offers a great opportunity for an exciting day trip.
Day 3 From Kefalonia to Ithaca (B/-/-)
- After a tasty breakfast, you will be taken to the port of Sami to travel to your next destination, Ithaka. The ferryboat will bring you to the Port of Pisaetos.
- The island of Ithaka is known as the birthplace of Odysseus in Homer's mythical Odyssey. It is the island he returned to after 20 years of adventurous periplus and where Penelope, and his son, Telemachus, never lost hope and still waited for him in his palace.
- On reaching the Port of Pisaetos, you will be transferred to your hotel.
- The rest of the day is free to explore the island at your own pace.
- At night, we suggest a stroll through the quiet streets of Vathi, where there is a wide variety of taverns, cafes and bars lining the waterfront.
Day 4 Ithaka: Discovering the Island of Odysseus (B/-/-)
- Ithaka is the least visited, but the most legendary of the Ionian Islands. The island is divided into the northern part and the southern part. The southern part is the one that still preserves the essence of the past, while the northern part is the one that attracts more tourists.
- Vathi, its capital, is located in a bay with serene waters and Venetian influence. Two kilometres from Vathi, you will find Dexa Beach, which according to the legend, was the place where Odysseus landed after his long journey.
- We suggest visiting the northern part of Ithaka, where the town of Stavros is located, one of the largest in the island. The archaeological finds uncovered here suggest that it is also the site of the ancient city of Ithaka.
Day 5 Farewell: Goodbye Ithaka via Kefalonia (B/-/-)
- After enjoying a delicious breakfast and, at the appointed time, you will be transferred to the port to take the boat to Kefalonia. On this short crossing you will admire the beauty of the Ionian Sea for one more time. On reaching Kefalonia, you will be taken to its airport to board your flight, which should depart later than 12.30pm, for obvious reasons (give yourself plenty of time as you will use different means of transportation).
- We hope to see you again soon and help you create yet more incredible moments, that will be etched in your memory forever.
- Have a nice trip! or as Greeks say "Kaló taksídi!".
